Athletics have always been part of my life. CrossFit is now my life. The camaraderie any CrossFitter feels in their box is ubiquitous and inexpressible. When I see someone push through pain when they want to quit, and they give one more rep when they thought they physically couldn’t, they begin to realize that their mental limitations are far beyond where they originally thought. That’s powerful. And it is that powerful moment that keeps me coming back for more. I am enamored with burpees, squats, and heavy cleans, but despise rowing and thrusters. I am a cookie monster, relish Boston Cream donuts, and consume Sour Patch Kids habitually. -Bachelor of the Arts, University of Pittsburgh -Master of Education, Chatham University
OWNER, HEAD COACH, CF-L2 TRAINER
CrossFit found me in 2017 and Renegade Training has always been my home. I started CrossFit with the goal to get in shape and over the years developed a particular passion for weightlifting. As a coach, I’m full of enthusiasm and zest! It’s incredible to watch our members achieve their goals and try new things. I really enjoy introducing new workout components and challenging our membership. Outside of the gym, I am a school social worker for Pittsburgh Public Schools and coach middle school cross country. I’m originally from Colorado and enjoy everything outdoors!
OPERATIONS DIRECTOR, CF-L1 TRAINER
I am a former Division I swimmer (Rider University, 2017) turned CrossFit enthusiast. I started CrossFit in undergrad to train in the off season and instantly feel in love with it. During the summer of 2018 I decided I wanted to be a coach. I coach CrossFit because I love helping people achieve their athletic goals. As a coach there are few things as rewarding as helping someone accomplish a feat of athleticism that they could not do the day before. Intervals on any cardio machine are my favorite but I have learned to enjoy snatches and ring muscle ups. I am always down for a good race on the rower! Currently I am pursuing my PhD at Pitt studying volcanology on Earth, Mars, and Venus. I hold two bachelor’s degrees from Rider University, one in Geoscience and the other in Marine Science.
Chris joined his first CrossFit affiliate in August 2013 after performing workouts in his graduate school gym for over a year. He was always involved in competitive sports from baseball and tennis to competitive ski racing in college, but never felt comfortable or energized inside the walls of a traditional gym. Once he found group fitness, that quickly changed. As an engineer and former college professor, Chris enjoys breaking down movements into fundamental components to help members understand how to move efficiently, effectively, and safely. He appreciates that everyone learns differently and is eager to find a coaching methodology that helps each member achieve their personal goals.
As a former collegiate soccer player, CrossFit provides a competitive, team-oriented atmosphere that I relish. I started CrossFit in 2016 to supplement my soccer training, where I have since continued to learn and grow in my fitness. As a coach, I want to bring lots of energy and enthusiasm to the gym, while celebrating athletes in their ability to step outside their comfort zone and achieve whatever it is they’ve set their mind to. I love (truly) burpees, box jumps, pull-ups, and any WOD with a significant cardio piece. Outside of the gym, I am a masters student at Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, focusing on Human Security. I also volunteer with Open Field, a youth development organization that uses soccer to inspire and support refugee children in the Pittsburgh area.
I am a former Pitt Swimming (graduated 2020) and started doing CrossFit in 8th grade to help me become more powerful in the pool. I fell in love with the sport when I was immersed in a community that challenged me beyond just fitness. I love CrossFit because it allows me to be competitive while still supporting others through their own goals. I am excited to be a coach at Renegade Training because this community emulates athleticism and community. My favorite CrossFit movements are snatches, wall balls, thrusters, and weighted box step-overs. I am excited to help you achieve whatever goals you have in the gym and in life. Approach me anytime. Outside of training, I am in graduate school for Audiology. I love dogs, nature, and seltzer water. Kelly Clarkson is the greatest vocalist of our time, and you cannot convince me otherwise.
RT POWER TRAINER
I discovered powerlifting in 2015 when I chose to attend Penn State instead of continuing to play football in college. I needed to find another competitive outlet and powerlifting provided me that. I joined the powerlifting team there and was immediately hooked. It allowed me to compete against myself and others to see what I was able to push my body to do. I enjoy talking about strength programming and working through the process of developing a plan to improve your lifts. I understand everyone has their strengths and weaknesses and that makes the whole process even more exciting. Feel free to ask me any training or movement questions you may have.
